Artist's Statement

I, Viktoriya Hoover, was born in Odessa, Ukraine and now live in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.

As a child I found great pleasure in drawing and painting.

This childhood activity blossomed into a passionate hobby.  My art is reflected in different artistic media such as pastels, watercolor, and black & colored pencils.  I now work mostly with oil-based paint.

Being an admirer of nature, I like to spend time outdoors. Many of my oil landscapes and waterscapes are inspired by outdoor ventures and inspiration is drawn from surroundings and everyday life.

I prepare sketches, small studies, and photographs, and then transforms a blank canvas into a painting using a brush and a palette knife. My style of painting can be described as realistic-impressionism.

I am a member of Franklin County Art Alliance in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; Shape Gallery in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania; and an associate member of MPSGS in Washington, DC.

I participate in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
