Did you know we are a gold star library?  We are!  Shippensburg University’s Ezra Lehman Memorial Library is working to make sure our patrons (you!) have access to information and resources in all five focus areas of the PA Forward program.

PA Forward is a statewide initiative led by the Pennsylvania Library Association (PaLA) to increase awareness and literacy within the state. The five literacies that PA Forward advocates for are basic literacy, information literacy, civic and social literacy, financial literacy, and health literacy.  Read more below to learn about each literacy and to get some university resources for further learning.

Basic Literacy

Basic literacy is the ability to read, write, and speak at all comprehension levels throughout your life. This includes reading, writing, math, job application comprehension, foreign language comprehension, and fundamental terminology in a specific field of study.
