Welcome to the research guide for PSY315: Psychology of Prejudice & the Minority Experience with Dr. Campbell. This course guide was designed to help you complete your literature review.
Instructions from Professor Campbell about your assignments are provided below:
Literature Review. This project will give you an opportunity to explore in detail some specific aspect of the psychology of prejudice. You should choose an area that appeals to your interest and develop a well-thought out and coherent synopsis of the current state of research surrounding the topic. The final literature review in APA format should be roughly 6-10 pages in length and must contain citations from at least six (> 2000) PSYCHOLOGY journal articles (e.g. Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Applied Social Psychology).
Prejudice Intervention Paper. This project will allow your group (2-3 people) to apply some of the theories and research that we have discussed throughout the semester. Although you do not have to actually carry out this intervention, your idea should be feasible (e.g. cost, time). Your goal is to propose an intervention that is designed to prevent or reduce prejudice in a specific population (pre-school children) and/or situation (business setting). You have a lot of leeway in selecting your topic and targets, but make sure that they are as specific as possible and clearly identified in your paper. The first part of your paper will be a literature review where you must clearly review and discuss the theory and research that your plan will be based upon. The second part of your paper should be a formal proposal where you explain in detail your idea, method, timeframe, population, and evaluation methods. You need to make sure that you specifically state how each step of your plan is justified based on the research and theory discussed in the first part of your paper. The final intervention plan in APA format should be roughly 8-10 pages in length and must contain citations from at least four (> 2000) PSYCHOLOGY journal articles (e.g. Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Applied Social Psychology.
Additional information regarding the writing a format of an APA literature review/proposal is available on the class website. You must turn in a hard copy of your reviews/proposals to me and submit an electronic version to the Turnitin Anti-plagiarism web site for our class. Final Papers are DUE DEC. 3 or earlier.
