I am a senior at Shippensburg University. I'm majoring in Interdisciplinary Art and, therefore, my showcase represents art in multiple forms. I have incorporated photography, graphic design and literature to depict the tales of Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm.
When one hears the name Cinderella they may imagine glass slippers, fairy godmothers and happily ever after when, in fact, the original tale is much more gruesome. I chose to go back to the origins of these well-known classics and interpret them in my own way.It may be surprising for some to know how many of these tales were originally told, before they were painted in a more kid friendly light.
My photographs were taken in various locations throughout Pennsylvania and Louisiana where I used the various environments to my advantage, There is even a self portrait amongst the photos. Can you find it?
Creating The Echanted feels like a fitting send off from Ship as well because starting in September I will be doing a photography internship in Walt Disney World. It has been a great four years and I am anxious to see what the future brings.
