About the Artist

Hannah Berger, although only a first year art major student at Shippensburg University, is not a newcomer to the art world of south-central Pennslyvania.

Berger is a member of the Franklin County Art Alliance.  She won an Honorable Mention award in the 39th Annual Art Exhibit and came in third place in the 2010 Annual Art Exhibition.  Berger has exhibited her work in various locations around Franklin county.

Her life and education is now being pursued at Shippensburg University for a degree in Art Education.

Hannah says of her work,

"I will always pursue my life-long interest in art. Art remains one of the best decisions of my life.

Painting regularly in watercolor, and acrylics, I find the challenge of switching among these two mediums to be particularly rewarding. Watercolor is my favorite, and I always find myself returning to it with pleasure.

Born and raised in PA, I was struck by shapes and lines in everything I saw, the changing seasons, and the people. One of my favorite things to draw, or paint is people. I think it is their faces that catch my eye. Some of my paintings are very detailed. But sometimes it’s nice not to sweat the small stuff. I do not strictly copy what I see. My art conveys a unique mood in each of my paintings by altering the lighting, color, or subject matter itself. I introduce myself to surroundings in an effort to create a pleasing balance between light and dark, soft and hard.

Personally, I am thankful for the talents that my Lord Jesus has given me. I also thank you for reading about me."
