World Intellectual Property Organization - Traditional Knowledge and Intellectual Property
In 2000, WIPO members established an Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC), and in 2009 they agreed to develop an international legal instrument (or instruments) that would give traditional knowledge, genetic resources and traditional cultural expressions (folklore) effective protection.

Citation

MLA and APA citation styles do not currently specify a format for citing Indigenous Knowledge Keepers specifically.

Lorisia MacLeod, a member of the James Smith Cree Nation and Instruction Librarian at NorQuest College has developed citation styles which have now been adopted by the University of Toronto, Maskwacis Cultural College, Red Deer College, University of Alberta, and others.
