Put Some Health Back in Your Thanksgiving
Add more vegetables (even green leafy ones)- At least one third of your plate should consist of vegetables and fruit
Use a smaller plate
Avoid snacking- save your calories for the main course
Alter old family favorite recipes
Experiment with herbs and spices and cut the salt
Add sweet potatoes to white potatoes to create a creamy texture (or go with 100% sweet potatoes)
Adding butternut squash or acorn squash to mashed potatoes is a yummy alternative
Enjoy your food- don’t punish yourself for small indulgences
Be sure you are drinking plenty of water throughout the day!
Don’t forget to add some physical activity into your family’s day!
