Constitution Day 2024

by Heather Glasby on 2024-09-10T08:52:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, by the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.  Shippensburg University has several events planned for September 17 you won’t want to miss!

  • Join us in front of the Ezra Lehman Memorial Library as President Patterson leads the GBLUES students in reciting the Preamble of the Constitution and come inside to see a display of their related projects and artwork.
  • The library will also have pocket copies of the Constitution available for patrons to take and read at your leisure.  Reading the Constitution only takes about 45 minutes!
  • The evening Keynote event will be a spirited discussion with Drs. Botteron and Lichtman from the Department of Political Science on the topic “What Do Constitutions ‘Do’”?

Lehman Library is pleased to have received Gold Star recognition in the PA Forward Star Program, an initiative of the Pennsylvania Library Association that highlights libraries’ role in moving Pennsylvania forward by fueling the types of knowledge essential to its success.  Together with our campus and community partners, we invite you to expand your civic literacy and get engaged in civic discourse ahead of November’s general election!

PLEASE NOTE: Drs. Botteron and Lichtman are speaking in the renovated Grove Forum, which is now known as “The Rob Lieblein And Alera Group Forum.”
