This library guide has been made to help guide you to the resources you need to complete the Hometown Community Assessment project. This is a complex assignment involving the creation of numerous statistical tables representing key aspects of life in your community. It also involves in-depth research into your hometown, and interaction with significant resources, both human and informational, about life in your community.
I have created two tutorials to help introduce you to the tools and sources need to complete the Hometown Assessment assignment in SWK340. The following two tutorials (YouTube or PowerPoint versions) were made for Dr. Fisher's class during a recent Winter term. Please ignore any references to that specific class. These tutorials will help you in detail to use American FactFinder to complete your assignment. For those who want more assistance, I would also recommend watching the first half of the "Library Instruction" recording below. In this I introduce the class to how to use many other sources to find the qualitative type information that you need for other sections of the paper.
