Assignment

Instructions for Group Class Presentation from Dr. Paul (Total Points: 50)
  1. The main goal of these class presentations is to introduce students to the rich social and military history of Southeast Asia.
  2. By the second week of classes, I will divide the class into groups of four or five.
  3. Approach this presentation as you would a research paper.
  4. Each member of a group will have to do equal amount of work. So divide up the research accordingly.
  5. The members will then select a topic.
  6. You will be graded on the following:
    1. articulation-(clarity, with a clear outline, clear focus, enthusiasm, engaging the audience, etc.)
    2. research- (historical accuracy)
    3. visual aids (videos, PowerPoint, maps, images, transparencies, etc.)
    4. peer response (your peers will be evaluating your groups performance anonymously)
    5. Involving the class in your presentation
  7. Each group will be given 15 minutes.
  8. Try to be as creative as possible.
  9. You will have to e- mail me the entire presentation at least a day prior to your group is scheduled to give the class presentation. 
  10. In addition each group will submit a two-three double spaced pages (MAX) reflection paper highlighting the following:
    1. synopsis of the project- a summary of what you found most intriguing about the topic you chose for your group presentation.
    2. division of labor- who did what
    3. A bibliographic page with all the sources clearly cited
