Exhibit: The Long Road to LGBTQ+ Equality in Pennsylvania
Lehman Library has a travelling exhibit, The Long Road to LGBTQ+ Equality in Pennsylvania, from November 2021 through the end of the semester, from the Harrisburg LGBT Center of Central PA!
This travelling exhibit chronicles the efforts that activists have undertaken in Pennsylvania to achieve full equality for LGBTQ+ people. For five decades, activists have been hard at work to obtain protections in housing, employment, public accommodations, and education. The exhibit tells these stories through historical narrative, photographs, and video of activists' first person accounts who were involved in the struggles to achieve protection from discrimination. Along the way, they faced some of the very discrimination they were seeking to protect their communities from, including harassment, physical assault, arson, and bombings.
This exhibit is sponsored by the PA LGBT History Network, a cooperative group of organizations, institutions, and individuals that have collections and/or an interest in LGBTQ+ history.
You can visit a digital version of the exhibit at this link: https://www.centralpalgbthistory.org/the-long-road.html
Don't forget to drop by the Main Level Gallery in Lehman Library to see the exhibit in person, it will be here through the end of the semester.
