Database Access Notices and Troubleshooting

by Aaron Dobbs on 2021-02-28T12:28:00-05:00 in   Ezra Lehman Library | 0 Comments

The library has received several questions about library database popup alerts, privacy policy notices, and new authentication processes when accessing library databases. Here is some background information to allay concerns and offer recommendations:

  • When using the Ship Discovery Search off campus I am asked to accept an EBSCO privacy policy notice, is this legit?
  • When logging in to library databases I see different options before I get to the Ship login page, are these real?
    • Ultimately you should end up at the main Ship authentication page:

    • Often before you get to the Ship authentication page above you may see this OpenAthens redirector option:

    • Rarely before you get to the Ship authentication page above you may see this RPAS redirector option:

    • Occasionally we get reports about an EBSCO login page, please click the "OpenAthens Login" link near the bottom of the page. This link should bring you to one of the options above.

If you ever have questions about a login page or a popup prompt that seems odd or untrustworthy, please send us an email or hit us up on the Library Chat from the library homepage!
