Material ordering

The library is now accepting material orders from S.U. faculty using a submission form (linked below). This form will enable us to more effectively track orders and provide notifications to faculty when an item they have requested is received.

To submit an order to the library, click here to access the submission form.

  • Book requests will be fulfilled in electronic form (e-book) if available.
NOTE:  You may opt out of the e-book preferred procedure.  Please inform your liaison or Nicole Kunkle (NDZinn@ship.edu) if you want your orders filled with print rather than electronic content.
  • Special Requests, Rush Orders, and Reserve Items:
Please email Nicole Kunkle (NDZinn@ship.edu) to provide further details on these requests. You can also use our order submission form.
Our procedure is to purchase unlimited, concurrent access to reserve books in e-format when possible, so that all students may use the book at all times without delay.
  • Need something that isn't showing up in GOBI? Use our order submission form OR contact your liaison librarian.
  • Print books / physical items are typically available for use in 2-3 weeks.  Please check the library catalog for availability.

Looking for Good Titles for Your Department?

Collection Development Philosophy

The Collection Management Department will give full consideration to all requests but may not acquire some materials due to non-approval by university departments, cost, or availability.

Faculty Contacts:

Each Shippensburg University department has its own faculty library contact from within the department, and each department also has a collection development liaison who is a library faculty member.  Your contacts are listed here in the liaisons tab of this guide.  These contacts can assist you in requesting library materials.

Supported Requests:

The goal of collection development at the Ezra Lehman Memorial Library is to acquire materials that support the learning and research needs of Shippensburg University students, faculty, and staff.  These materials are selected to supplement, rather than duplicate, required course readings. For this reason, we avoid purchasing required course textbooks to add to the library collection in most situations. However, each semester the ten most in-demand textbooks are purchased for our reserve collection. They can be checked out for three hours.

If you have questions or comments regarding resource recommendations, please contact your library liaison for further assistance.
