Library Reserves

Students! Check to see if your professor(s) has put your textbook or related course materials on reserve at the Library Reserves Desk:

  1. Browse the new LibGuides Library Reserves by course, professor, or subject
  2. There are more e-textbooks than listed in Reserves. Search the library catalog, the Discovery Service, and eBook Central by the title of your textbook if your course is not listed.

Faculty Requests to add Course Reserves or Clone a Course

Submit new reserve item requests via the Reserves request form.
-Please use this form for both print and electronic reserve requests.

If you wish to clone classes previously on course reserves, from 2021-22 onward, please email Library Reserves, indicating the name and number of the class, and the semester for which it was on course reserves.

Feel free to contact us through the Ask Us Anything form for additional assistance.

Textbooks on Reserve

For Faculty:

  • The library purchases a limited number of textbooks for its “Textbooks on Reserve” service, and it encourages you to participate by placing a personal copy of your textbook on reserve at the Circulation Desk for your students to use. At the end of the semester(s), your textbook can be returned to you or left for use during future semsters. For more information, contact library circulation at X1461 or libcirc@ship.edu.

  • Looking for an alternative to a traditional textbook? Library faculty are willing to assist you in identifying no-cost open educational resources to support your courses. You can speak to Aaron Dobbs, library department chair and scholarly communications librarian, at X1018 or awdobbs@ship.edu for more information.
